Do I have to tell my child what the appointment is for?

We feel transparency with children and young people is important and we want to involve your young person from the beginning of their ADHD assessment. During the course of the assessment parents/guardians will have an opportunity to speak with one of our clinicians away from their child to ensure a clear history and all concerns can be discussed freely.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

Accepted Answer

We believe it is important to meet face to face to undertake an ADHD assessment to truly get an understanding of the young person, their needs and the concerns that have been raised. If your young person commences on ADHD medication, they will require specialist drug monitoring which includes observation checks in line with NICE Guidance. This will be discussed further when appropriate.

Question 3

Will my local health trust accept reports/ ADHD diagnosis from a private provider?

Accepted Answer

Our assessment is multidisciplinary and meets the criteria set out by NICE guidelines. The final report can be circulated to your local Trust, with your consent, to be ratified in line with regional guidelines for accepting a private ADHD assessment report.

Question 4

Will my young person get extra support in school if a diagnosis of ADHD is confirmed?

Additional support in school should follow a needs-based assessment with your school/local education authority. Your school will be able to discuss and guide you around this. If a diagnosis of ADHD is confirmed we will provide you with a confirmation letter and think it is important for you to consider sharing that information with your young person’s school/ teacher.

Question 5

Can you do an Autism assessment?

Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to offer assessments for Autism. If, during your young person’s ADHD assessment, we feel there are behaviours and traits that may be in keeping with Autism we will discuss this further with you.

Question 6

What are the costs and waiting times?

Accepted Answer
